PFS and Titan Alpha Team Awarded Contract to Continue Support for VA’s National Oncology Program

Washington, DC – Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is pleased to announce that it’s joint venture Titan Alpha has been awarded a contract to continue its support for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Oncology Program (NOP). Cancer remains the second leading cause of death among Veterans, and Titan Alpha is committed to helping NOP provide cutting-edge cancer care and research services.

With approximately 55,000 new cancer diagnoses among Veterans each year, NOP plays a vital role in ensuring Veterans receive life-saving care. As part of this contract, Titan Alpha will support critical efforts such as engaging historically underrepresented communities in cancer prevention and screening, and expanding access to chemotherapy treatments via community-based outpatient clinics and other clinical settings.

The PFS/Titan Alpha team has expanded the reach of the NOP, engaging a broad audience through channels including White House communications engagements, outreach activities with Veteran Service Organizations, and products like the Emmy-awarding public service announcement on colorectal screening. The team will continue to expand NOP’s impact with high-level engagements, media placements, and social media campaigns.

Marissa Smith Headshot“With every impression, view, and click, more Veterans will learn about the resources and care available to them, allowing them to take control of their health and well-being. Our goal is to bridge the gap between Veterans and the care they deserve, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against cancer,” said Marissa Smith, PFS Project Manager.

Since 2020, the PFS/Titan Alpha team has partnered with  NOP, working alongside VA leaders to enhance oncology services and expand clinical care.

Dana Cogar headshot“We are honored to continue supporting the NOP’s critical mission,” said Dana Cogar, PFS Vice President. “This partnership allows us to make a direct impact on Veterans’ lives. By expanding access to innovative treatments and focusing on early detection, we’re advancing care while amplifying our efforts through strategic communications. By raising awareness and promoting early detection, Veterans can make informed decisions about their health. Every new diagnosis is a call to action, and we’re committed to ensuring Veterans have the tools and resources to fight back.”

Cancer is a significant health concern for Veterans, with approximately 50,000 new invasive cases diagnosed each year within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The NOP plays a vital role in combating these statistics by leveraging precision medicine and a learning healthcare model that rapidly integrates new discoveries into clinical practice.

As part of its ongoing support, the team will continue working with the NOP to address a backlog in VA’s cancer tumor registry. Key elements of this initiative include completing 17,500 cases, identifying cancer incidence for under-reported or unreported hospitals, and supporting the modernization and integration of the cancer registry system across VA facilities. This comprehensive effort will ensure accurate data reporting and case completion, driving improved outcomes for more than 400,000 Veterans affected by cancer.

Having supported the NOP and VA cancer registry work since 2020, PFS and Titan Alpha will continue to make meaningful contributions as it collaborates with NOP leaders, VA, VHA, and external stakeholders to develop and implement oncology programs and services.

The PFS/Titan Alpha team is comprised of seasoned professionals with expertise in cancer care, research, and education. Washington, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture of Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), has been awarded a critical contract to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in its ongoing mission to prevent Veteran suicide. This award underscores our continued commitment to enhancing the mental health and well-being of our nation’s Veterans through strategic support of the VA’s Suicide Prevention (SP) Clinical Interventions Program.

In 2021, approximately 18 Veterans died by suicide every day, with the majority under the age of 45. This alarming statistic is fueled by a complex array of factors, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, substance abuse, and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The VA’s Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP) is at the forefront of addressing these challenges, working tirelessly to implement the National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide in partnership with other federal agencies. Despite recent progress in reducing the number of Veteran suicides, the VA, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and OSP remain steadfast in their efforts to lower this number even further through comprehensive, integrated approaches to mental health care.

The team is prepared to bolster these efforts by providing essential administrative support, knowledge management, training development, project management, and program evaluation services to ensure the effective execution of the SP Clinical Interventions Program’s initiatives.

Through these efforts, PFS is committed to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of Veterans by ensuring they have access to the highest quality mental health care and resources. By supporting the VA’s Suicide Prevention Clinical Interventions Program, Titan Alpha aims to help save lives and provide Veterans with the most valuable resource of all: hope for the future.

Carl FortuneCarl Henry-Fortune, PFS Vice President, shared, “Earlier this year, we took a vital step in supporting our Veterans through our suicide prevention efforts. We are thrilled to build on this progress, ensuring that every Veteran feels valued and safe. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in their lives.”

Lisa Kennedy“Supporting this mission is both a privilege and a profound responsibility,” said Lisa Kennedy, PFS Program Manager. “We are honored to contribute to such a vital cause.”

PFS is proud to stand with the VA in its ongoing mission to prevent Veteran suicide and is committed to providing the expertise and support needed to make a lasting difference in the lives of our nation’s heroes.
