Titan Alpha Awarded Contract with Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Specialty Care Program Office to Help Promote and Expand Pain Management Care for Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract to assist the Veteran Health Administration’s (VHA) National Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMOP) Office. As part of VHA’s National Specialty Care Program Office, PMOP is responsible for pain, opioid, and prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) related initiatives and policies in VHA. The Titan Alpha team will collaborate with PMOP leaders, other VA and VHA leaders, and external stakeholders to develop and implement plans to promote and expand pain management care for Veterans.

Pain is the most frequent reason patients seek physician care in the United States (U.S.). It is estimated that more than 50 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine, “pain medicine” is a medical specialty that is evolving along with its place in the medical hierarchy. Although there are many treatment modalities, a major component for the treatment of pain is the use of over-the-counter and prescription medications. The Department of Health and Human Services estimates that more than 10 million people in the U.S. misuse prescription opioids annually.

The mission of PMOP is to support a comprehensive and integrated approach to pain management that reduces pain and suffering and improves quality of life and functioning for Veterans experiencing acute or chronic pain. PMOP provides guidance and funding to support implementation of Pain and Opioid Safety initiatives, including legislative mandates and oversight requirements.

Carl Fortune, PFS Vice President, Health Services Research & Evaluation, says, “Because pain is invisible, too often we underestimate the extent of patients’ suffering and their care may not be managed with the care attention they deserve. We are eager to put our expertise and passion for healthcare to work in this meaningful project that will help Veterans manage their care more safely and effectively.”

Support for PMOP leaders will include developing, updating, and implementing operational strategy plans and facilitating and structuring field support to promote and expand pain management care for Veterans. This requires coordination, collaboration, communication, and innovation to ensure Veteran-centered, integrated, team-based, and Whole Health-oriented care.

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract to support the Veteran Health Administration’s (VHA) Office of Patient Care Services, Care Management and Social Work Services Family Coordinator Program.

In Strengthening America’s Military Families, Matching Their Devotion: Deepening Our Commitment to the Families, Caregivers, and Survivors of Service Members and Veterans, President Biden recognized that “Military families face many of the same challenges as other American working families, but they have the added strain of multiple deployments; frequent moves with little control over their geographic location; caring for wounded, ill, and injured Service Members or Veterans; time apart for trainings and other demands of military life; and more.” The goal of this national VA Family Coordinator Program is to provide outreach, connection to resources, and education and training to Veterans, families, and their communities to spread awareness and enhance the resiliency of Veteran families.

The Titan Alpha team will support the development of the VA Family Coordinator Program, including all contributing factors required for the successful creation of a foundational framework and pilot implementation at 10 VA medical centers (VAMCs), outpatient clinics, and other facilities.

“Military families face a web of barriers that many of us never even consider,” says Carl Fortune, PFS Vice President, Health Services Research & Evaluation. “With our expertise in program evaluation, management, and communications blended with our dedication and commitment to supporting these families who every day are quietly supporting our country, we know we will give our absolute best to help VA ease the journey of Veteran families.”

Prometheus Federal Services and Customer Value Partners Awarded Contract with VHA Specialty Care Services National Oncology Program to Support Cancer Moonshot Communications

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Specialty Care Services’ National Oncology Program (NOP) Cancer Moonshot initiative.

In early 2022, President Biden relaunched the Cancer Moonshot with a clear goal: to reduce cancer mortality by 50 percent over the next 25 years. Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Veterans, with approximately 43,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed every year. VHA is the largest integrated provider of oncology care in the nation, and its mission is to improve the lives of Veterans with cancer. It does this by implementing a learning healthcare model that quickly transitions new knowledge into clinical practice, and to maximize learning from clinical practice.

Under the inter-organizational and inter-agency Cancer Moonshot, the Titan Alpha team will develop a national two-year communications campaign, which will amplify the NOP and VHA programs services (for example Radiation Oncology, Lung Cancer Screening, Gastrointestinal and Hepatology, Pathology and Diagnostics) and specific Cancer Moonshot initiatives. The campaign will specifically focus on expanding awareness for internal and external audiences about the care and services available and VA accomplishments in innovative cancer care for all Veterans.

Many of our lives have been touched by cancer,” states Marissa Smith, PFS Project Manager and Communications Lead for this contract. “It is an honor and a privilege to support VHA’s Cancer Moonshot effort. We not only bring our strategic communications and management expertise to this program—but we bring our personal experiences and passion, as well. We are eager to help more Veterans learn about what VHA is doing to innovate in the realm of cancer, and to access care and services available to them.”

Prometheus Federal Services and Customer Value Partners Awarded Contract with Veterans Health Administration’s Center for Integrated Healthcare

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Center for Integrated Healthcare (CIH). The mission of CIH is to improve the health care of Veterans through the integration of mental health into primary care and other medical settings. CIH serves as a national resource by providing training, clinical resources, and implementation support on evidence-based practices on how to address mental and behavioral health.

In its work to assist the CIH, the Titan Alpha team will focus on training and implementation activities that help medical teams, including embedded behavioral health providers (e.g., social workers, psychologists) learn about and use up-to-date evidence-based practices. For example, the team will support virtual simulations designed to assist in training medical team members in conducting patient-centered suicide prevention.

“As a team, we endeavor to help federal agencies impact the health and well-being of the populations they serve,” says PFS Vice President, Kamran Sartaj. “We look forward to supporting CIH and VA as they strive to improve the health of Veterans by giving medical teams some of the tools and training needed to make it happen.”

As the CIH regularly identifies new evidence-based practices that need to be disseminated to integrated medical teams, Titan Alpha will help build strategies and communicate these practices to the field. And, as CIH continues its expansion of focus from primary care to all medical settings, the team will provide research assistance and human resource support to help improve the effectiveness of CIH’s national resources available to support medical and behavioral health personnel.
