Prometheus Federal Services and Customer Value Partners Awarded Contract with VHA Specialty Care Services National Oncology Program to Support Cancer Moonshot Communications

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Specialty Care Services’ National Oncology Program (NOP) Cancer Moonshot initiative.

In early 2022, President Biden relaunched the Cancer Moonshot with a clear goal: to reduce cancer mortality by 50 percent over the next 25 years. Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Veterans, with approximately 43,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed every year. VHA is the largest integrated provider of oncology care in the nation, and its mission is to improve the lives of Veterans with cancer. It does this by implementing a learning healthcare model that quickly transitions new knowledge into clinical practice, and to maximize learning from clinical practice.

Under the inter-organizational and inter-agency Cancer Moonshot, the Titan Alpha team will develop a national two-year communications campaign, which will amplify the NOP and VHA programs services (for example Radiation Oncology, Lung Cancer Screening, Gastrointestinal and Hepatology, Pathology and Diagnostics) and specific Cancer Moonshot initiatives. The campaign will specifically focus on expanding awareness for internal and external audiences about the care and services available and VA accomplishments in innovative cancer care for all Veterans.

Many of our lives have been touched by cancer,” states Marissa Smith, PFS Project Manager and Communications Lead for this contract. “It is an honor and a privilege to support VHA’s Cancer Moonshot effort. We not only bring our strategic communications and management expertise to this program—but we bring our personal experiences and passion, as well. We are eager to help more Veterans learn about what VHA is doing to innovate in the realm of cancer, and to access care and services available to them.”

Prometheus Federal Services and Customer Value Partners Awarded Contract with Veterans Health Administration’s Center for Integrated Healthcare

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Center for Integrated Healthcare (CIH). The mission of CIH is to improve the health care of Veterans through the integration of mental health into primary care and other medical settings. CIH serves as a national resource by providing training, clinical resources, and implementation support on evidence-based practices on how to address mental and behavioral health.

In its work to assist the CIH, the Titan Alpha team will focus on training and implementation activities that help medical teams, including embedded behavioral health providers (e.g., social workers, psychologists) learn about and use up-to-date evidence-based practices. For example, the team will support virtual simulations designed to assist in training medical team members in conducting patient-centered suicide prevention.

“As a team, we endeavor to help federal agencies impact the health and well-being of the populations they serve,” says PFS Vice President, Kamran Sartaj. “We look forward to supporting CIH and VA as they strive to improve the health of Veterans by giving medical teams some of the tools and training needed to make it happen.”

As the CIH regularly identifies new evidence-based practices that need to be disseminated to integrated medical teams, Titan Alpha will help build strategies and communicate these practices to the field. And, as CIH continues its expansion of focus from primary care to all medical settings, the team will provide research assistance and human resource support to help improve the effectiveness of CIH’s national resources available to support medical and behavioral health personnel.

Prometheus Federal Services and Customer Value Partners Awarded Contract to Continue Programmatic Support to Veterans Health Administration’s “VETSmile” Veteran Dental Pilot Program

WASHINGTON, DC – Titan Alpha, a joint venture between Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) and Customer Value Partners (CVP), was awarded a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Center for Care and Payment Innovation (CCPI) to continue supporting programmatic requirements to its VETSmile Pilot Program.

Regular dental care is a preventative remedy to improve overall health and wellbeing; however, there are currently 7.8 million Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare who are ineligible for VA dental benefits. To better meet the need for affordable Veteran dental care, the Center for Care and Payment Innovation implemented a new pilot program in 2021 called VETSmile. VETSmile aims to improve Veterans’ access to dental care by establishing a referral network of community dental care partners (DCPs) that provide a dental home for Veterans at a discounted rate.

With this contract award, Titan Alpha will continue its work to help ensure that the pilot program can serve Veterans in accessing low-cost or pro bono dental services in the community,” says Melisa Foronda, MPH, PFS Project Manager for VETSmile, “Through detailed planning efforts, communication and outreach initiatives, and dedicated program support, we look forward to helping the VETSmile program successfully and sustainably provide Veterans with access to dental care.”

In its initial year, with Titan Alpha support, VETSmile engaged 50+ DCPs nationwide, helping 2,900+ Veterans connect with dentists through 4,800+ patients visits and 10,000+ dental procedures at 14 sites in seven states. In this next phase, the VETSmile program will focus on monitoring and oversight of the program. The team will also implement a communications strategy to reach stakeholders and strategic partners to ensure eligible Veterans have access to affordable dental care.

Titan Alpha Wins Telly Award for Short Film on TeleOncology

WASHINGTON, DC – Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is proud to announce Titan Alpha’s 2022 Silver Telly Award in the Non-Broadcast category for the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) National TeleOncology service (NTO) video: Expanding Cancer Care Through TeleOncology.

Titan Alpha’s winning NTO video highlights the cancer treatment of U.S. Army Veteran Virgil Miller—a West Virginia resident who lives more than 400 miles from his North Carolina-based VA oncologist, Dr. Pradeep Poonnen. What would be an arduous 11-hour round-trip drive becomes an online visit, easily accessed through a mobile device or computer, due to the power of TeleOncology. Despite his initial hesitancy about not seeing his physician in person, Miller says he received excellent care and felt truly heard by his doctor.

“Titan Alpha has the opportunity to support vital and innovative projects at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – and TeleOncology is just one of them,” said Greg Smallwood, MHSA, CEO of PFS, the managing partner of Titan Alpha. “Our communications team made this powerful story come to life because of their expertise and passion for supporting Veterans. At PFS, we believe it takes both to make the best products possible – and the Telly award acknowledges we were successful in our mission.”

The Telly Awards recognizes high-quality video for television and other screen platforms. Founded in 1979, this high-profile competition receives over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents each year. Submissions are judged by The Telly Awards Judging Council, a communications and production industry body of over 200 expert professionals.
